The present volume of the “Scientific Heritage” series publishes a commented translation into Russian of the work of an Armenian naturalist and physician of the 15th century. Amirdovlat Amasiatsi “Unnecessary for the ignorant.” This medieval encyclopedic dictionary of medicines is a multifaceted work of natural science content. It provides a unique set of information on the flora of Transcaucasia, Asia Minor and the Balkan Peninsula, which are important not only for the history of science, but also for clarifying the evolution of vegetation and clarifying the plant resources of some southern regions of our country. В настоящем томе серии «Научное наследство» публикуется комментированный перевод на русский язык сочинения армянского естествоиспытателя и врача XV в. Амирдовлата Амасиаци «Ненужное для неучей». Этот средневековый энциклопедический словарь лекарственных средств является многоплановым произведением естественнонаучного содержания. Он дает уникальный свод сведений по флоре Закавказья, Малой Азии и Балканского полуострова, имеющих значение не только для истории науки, но и для выяснения вопросов эволюции растительного покрова и уточнения растительных ресурсов некоторых южных районов нашей страны. Значительное место занимают в нем данные о фауне и минералах этого региона.
