This collection of documents and materials covers the main milestones in the life, military-scientific and social activities of a prominent naval commander and a prominent scientist, laureate of the State Prize, Hero of the Soviet Union, Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences and Honorary Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR, Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Ivan Stepanovich Isakov.
The compilers of the collection are Doctor of Historical Sciences A.O. Harutyunyan. and senior researcher of the Archives Department under the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR O.S. Balikyan, in addition to official documents, they also used the memoirs of prominent military and scientific workers and friends of I.S. and the social and political activities of one of the leaders and theorists of the USSR Navy.
The collection is intended for a wide range of readers and specialists in the history of the Russian fleet.

В настоящем сборнике документов и материалов освещаются основные вехи жизни, военно-научной и общественной деятельности видного флотоводца и крупного ученого, лауреата Государственной премии, Героя Советского Союза, члена-корреспондента Академии наук СССР и почетного академика Академии наук Армянской ССР, Адмирала флота Советского Союза Ивана Степановича Исакова.
Составители сборника доктор исторических наук Арутюнян А.О. и старший научный сотрудник Архивного управления при Совете Министров Армянской ССР Баликян О. С., кроме официальных документов использовали также воспоминания видных военных и научных работников и друзей И. С. Исакова, раскрывающие отдельные стороны богатейшего жизненного пути и весьма плодотворной военной, государственной, научной и общественнополитической деятельности одного из деятелей и теоретиков Военно-Морского Флота СССР.
Сборник рассчитан на широкий круг читателей и специалистов по истории отечественного флота.
