Leon Melik-Shahnazaryan was born in 1958 in Gandzak. In 1974 he lived in the capital of Uzbekistan, where after graduating from the Faculty of Language and Literature, he lectured at the Department of Russian Linguistics of the Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute, in 1988 he moved to Karabakh. He worked as the head of the Stepanakert political executive committee. In 1991 he was elected a deputy of the NKR Supreme Council of the first convocation. From January 1992 to 1995-97 he was the chairman and chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the NKR Supreme Council. In 1995 he worked as the editor of “НК республика” newspaper and the deputy editor-in-chief of “NK Republic” newspaper. November-December 1988 was one of the leaders of Gandzak self-defense. He is the author of the memoir “Gandzak-Not Lost World” (in Russian), which tells about the events taking place in the city in those days.
He is a political scientist, a traditionalist, the author of about 500 articles on political science.

Լևոն Մելիք-Շահնազարյանը ծնվել 1958թ Գանձակում։ 1974թ ապրել է Ուզբեկստանի մայրաքաղաքում, որտեղ լեզվի և գրականության ֆակուլտետն ավարտելուց հետո, դասախոսել է Տաշքենդի պետական մանկավարժական ինստիտուտի ռուսերենի լեզվաբանության ամբիոնում, 1988թ տեղափոխվել է Ղարաբաղ։ Աշխատել է որպես Ստեփանակերտի քաղգործկոմի բաժնի վարիչ։ 1991թ ընտրվել ԼՂՀ Գերագույն Խորհրդի առաջին գումարման պատգամավոր։ 1992թ հունվարից մինչև 1995-97թթ եղել է ԼՂՀ ԳԽ արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի նախագահ և նախագահության անդամ։ 1995թ աշխատել է իբրև “НК республика” թերթի խմբագիր և “ԼՂ Հանրապետություն” թերթի գլխավոր խմբագրի տեղակալ։ 1988 նոյեմբեր-դեկտեմբեր եղել է Գանձակի ինքնապաշտպանության ղեկավարներից մեկը։ Հեղինակ է “Գանձակ-չկորսված աշխարհ” (ռուսերեն) հուշագրական գրքի, որը պատմում է այն օրերին քաղաքում կատարվող իրադարձությունների մասին։
Քաղաքագետ է, տրադիցիոնալիստ, հեղինակ է’ քաղաքագիտական թեմայով շուրջ 500 հոդվածի։
