Description
Composition of Abu-Lala Mahari, Avetik Isahakyan. It was written in 1909-1910. Isahakyan published the first parts of the poem in 1909, and in full in 1911. The poem is composed according to special laws of grammar, in two lines, each with twenty syllables. The main character of the poem is the bearer of individual tragedy, universal pain and suffering. Abu-Lala Mahari is a lyrical poem. It is based on the image of the Arab poet Abu al-Ala al-Maarri. The basis of the poem is the legend about him that he lived dissatisfied with people, loved solitary freedom. He ordered to record on his tombstone. “My father sinned against me, but I did not sin against anyone.” Making him the hero of his poem, Isahakyan expresses his thoughts and reflections through his mouth.
